The Buy -A- Tie project is for the direct purpose of buying Railroad ties to help extend and maintain a section of the former Pennsylvania Railroad here in New Jersey (Now operating as the Belvedere & Delaware River Railway). This section has been home for the societies steam locomotive 2-8-2 # 142, plus many other pieces of equipment that the society has been operating there since 2003. In order to extend the distance of our train ride through the country like setting of New Jersey, we need to install approximately 1000 new railroad ties per mile to rebuild this great section of railroad that stretches from Phillipsburg, fourteen miles south to the town of Milford at a cost of $35.00 per tie. The New York, Susquehanna  & Western Technical & Historical Society is a not-for-profit entity, organized under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Please consult your tax advisor for further information regarding the deductibility of this contribution. Anyone or company making a donation of $250.00 or greater will have a brass plate with their name and town engraved on it, then secured on a one of the new railroad ties being installed. Donations must be made before March 10^th  for credit against your 2005 taxes!
